What you can expect to be doing:

Haley Ward is seeking a motivated and hands-on Project Manager to join our growing Environmental Service Line. We’re looking for an experienced environmental consultant and project manager who can provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and innovative support to expand Haley Ward’s client base in Connecticut and throughout New England.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in site investigation, risk assessment, and remediation programs under CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, and various state-led regulatory programs in Connecticut and neighboring states. A Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) designation is required. You’ll bring deep technical expertise to the table, with a demonstrated ability to implement innovative, sustainable investigation and remediation technologies.

As a Project Manager at Haley Ward, you’ll leverage your leadership skills, client relationships, and consulting experience to drive business growth. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary environmental team that spans from Maine to Florida, gaining access to a wide network of resources and support. The ideal candidate brings significant consultant and project management experience to provide technical leadership, strategic direction, and cutting-edge technical support to grow Haley Ward’s client base in Connecticut and beyond. The candidate will work on a variety of site investigation, risk assessment, and remediation programs under CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, and regional state programs in Connecticut, as well as other New England states. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise to projects, implementing innovative and sustainable site investigation and remediation technologies, and be a Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP).

As a Project Manager, you will contribute your leadership, client relationships, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of Haley Ward’s business and client base in New England, with the support of Haley Ward’s environmental team that spans from Maine to Florida. Your experience at Haley Ward will enable you to develop your career along with your leadership, client relationship building, and technical consulting skills. Ultimately, you will be able to support the growth of our business by delivering exceptional value to clients across multiple industry sectors.

Key position responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage complex site investigation and remediation projects, overseeing multi-disciplinary project teams across a variety of client sectors, with a primary focus on sites in Connecticut and the greater New England region. Ensure delivery of high-quality work products within defined scope, schedule, and budget parameters.
  • Collaborate with technical experts and project teams across Haley Ward to ensure seamless execution of environmental projects and promote knowledge sharing.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans, provide technical and operational leadership, and drive financial performance to support long-term growth objectives.
  • Serve as a senior “seller/doer”, actively contributing to the expansion of Haley Ward’s environmental services. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, prepare compelling technical proposals, and take a lead role in securing work with both new and existing clients.
  • Leverage existing client relationships to enhance Haley Ward’s visibility and reputation in the regional market, combining high-quality project delivery with proactive business development efforts.
  • Build a strong understanding of Haley Ward’s full range of consulting services and proactively support cross-selling opportunities to provide comprehensive solutions to clients
  • Mentor and manage staff, supporting recruitment, retention, performance development, and overall team success. Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Cultivate strong internal relationships across the firm to strengthen interdepartmental collaboration and contribute to a unified company culture.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related discipline. Masters preferred.
  • Connecticut Licensed Environmental Professional required.
  • Additional licensures such as Registered Professional Engineer, Massachusetts Licensed Site Professional, New Hampshire Professional Geologist, and/or Maine Licensed Geologist preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years related experience; 12+ years of consulting experience conducting site investigation and remediation with recognized technical expertise preferred.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff.
  • Familiarity with emerging contaminants and innovative remediation technologies
  • Consistent “seller/doer” track record, including successfully writing proposals and winning major projects.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of the local regulatory climate in New England.
