What you can expect to be doing:
Haley Ward is looking for an Architect for our Bangor, Maine office to provide architectural services on projects under the supervision of Principals, Project Managers, and the Senior Project Architect to develop and creatively design concepts for clients. Our new Architect would receive and provide instruction on project objectives, complex features, and possible solutions, working closely with the Senior Architect to provide solutions tailored to the needs of our clients.
- Participating with project teams to perform various architectural tasks related to evaluating, designing, and constructing projects.
- Working with clients and the project design team to develop programming documentation needed to set scope and design parameters for projects.
- Assisting with master planning, site planning, building planning, design efforts and documentation development, utilizing 2-D and 3-D modeling and digital presentation software.
- Working with the project team to develop concept level design alternatives and documentation to assist clients in understanding and selecting preferred design concepts.
- Participating in development of construction documents and specifications, creation of construction details, materials selections, and systems.
- Assisting in the construction administration phase by reviewing shop drawings and project submittals, as well as answering Requests for Information (RFI) and Supplemental Information (SI) and preparation of change directives.
- Participating in project quality control, reviewing designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure adherence to established specifications and company standards.
- Working with the Senior Project Architect to prepare fee proposals used in securing work for Haley Ward.
What you will need to succeed:
- Bachelor or Master of Architecture
- Registration as an Architect is preferred. Willing to consider those who have the ability to obtain registration within twelve months.
- Minimum of 8 years architecture and design experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a larger team
- Proficiency with CAD software such as Sketch-up, ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, and Revit
- Experience in BIM modeling and collaboration or equivalent education courses
- Experience writing specifications and bid documentation
- Experience with construction administration, construction cost estimates, and construction documents preferred
- Demonstrated business development acumen
- Strong design aptitude and attention to detail
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changes in the work requests or environment
- Valid driver's license & reliable transportation required
