What you can expect to be doing:

As an MEP Engineer at Haley Ward, you can expect to complete mechanical, electrical and plumbing, and fire protection system designs and drawings for a variety of different projects and market sectors. These market sectors will include a variety of unique opportunities to work on projects in Civic, Municipal, Healthcare, K-12 Education, Higher Education, Commercial, Healthcare, Senior Living, Science & Technology, Utilities, Government, Water and Wastewater facilities, providing you with continual learning opportunities. As an experienced MEP engineer, we are looking for your experience to define the best systems for buildings, understanding that each building and project brings its unique sets of challenges and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Independently, or as part of a project team, plans, performs, and delegates specific portions of a broader assignment.
  • Complete mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems designs and layouts for all assigned projects
  • Complete MEP load calculations.
  • Select equipment based on load calculations, energy efficiency requirements, client budget, and available space restrictions or limitations.
  • Perform field inspections of existing equipment on remodel projects and to ensure compliance with MEP plans and specifications.
  • Verify work to ensure compliance with state and local building codes.
  • Ensure quality of engineering efforts, meet project scope within deadlines and budget.
  • Coordinate with architect, owner-client and other disciplines on MEP systems.
  • Answer Contractor's RFI's and provide amendments along with written responses.
  • Able to travel out of town occasionally.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in both office and field settings. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Work hours are flexible and are subject to change based upon project schedules.

What you will need to succeed:

An MEP Engineer is expected to work independently and as a team member to apply intense knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of expertise to plan, coordinate, and complete assignments in conformance with schedules in a fast-paced environment. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work results from progressive experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience required in Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Design, Electrical design experience is also preferred but not required.
  • Experience from similar Engineering design firm, Consulting or Architectural engineering firm.
  • BS degree in applicable Engineering field from an accredited University
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of intended practice or ability to obtain license
  • Proficient using design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Trace 3D.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to understand and interpret data and troubleshoots when needed; Use engineering knowledge combined with common sense to resolve challenging issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a professional, courteous and respectful relationship with clients
  • A working knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, at a minimum.
  • Valid driver's license & reliable transportation required.
