Haley Ward is looking for a Construction Inspector for our Portsmouth, NH office to be responsible for daily inspection efforts on complex and/or diverse projects to ensure quality control and conformance with plans, specifications, and contract documents.

What you can expect to be doing:

The Construction Inspector will serve as the Project Engineer and Owner’s liaison with Contractor(s) assisting in understanding the intent of the Contract Documents and relating that to the responsible parties. Advise the Project Engineer and / or Owner and Contractor or superintendent regarding Shop Drawings, Testing, and Sample Submissions. Conduct on-site inspections as necessary and accompany visiting inspectors representing public or other agencies. Consider and evaluate Contractor's suggestions for modifications. Maintain orderly files and reports and prepare a final punch list of items to be corrected.

• Monitor contractor’s operations for compliance with contract terms and specifications.
• Recognize basic construction or engineering problems, recommending changes to construction plans to meet field conditions; making field observations of pay items and conducting materials testing.
• Maintain and review comprehensive project records including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates.
• Collaborate with Engineers and Surveyors to discuss and resolve field construction issues and obtain technical guidance in specialty areas of engineering and inspections.
• Assemble final records of construction.

What you will need to succeed:

• Minimum of 5 - 10 years of related construction management or on-site inspection experience
• BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent work experience in construction management or field inspection field preferred.
• Self-motivated, engaged, team-oriented, and strategic thinking with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and prioritize responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Construction Plans and Contract Documents is required.
• Valid driver's license & reliable transportation required
